The ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆÁ (ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆÁ) is requesting a Tydings waiver under Section 421(b) of the General Education Provisions Act (GEPA) to extend the period of availability of Federal Fiscal Year 2023 Title I, Part B State Assessment Formula Grant funds for which ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆÁ participates as the eligible agency. Under this approved waiver, the period of availability for these funds would be extended through September 30, 2026, and all funds must be obligated during this period. This is a state-level waiver and has no impact on school systems.
ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆÁ is requesting this waiver to ensure its assessment program can account for year-to-year variabilities. Depending on the activities necessary to meet state and federal requirements (e.g., stand-alone field test administrations), spending varies from year to year. If the waiver request is granted, ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆÁ can execute the remaining activities.
As required under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) section 8401(b)(3)(A), ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆÁ is providing notice of this request to the public with an opportunity for public comment.
