School Action Fund

School Actions are whole-school strategies districts use to increase access to high-quality schools, meet community needs, and address chronic underperformance. The School Action Fund (SAF) grant provides technical assistance, resources, and grant funds to support the planning and implementation of school actions for, and at, individual campuses to improve schools and provide parents and families with the schools and programs they want, need, and deserve. The School Action Fund supports these bold school actions:

  • Restart a struggling school
  • Create a new school
  • Reassign students to a higher-performing school
  • Redesign a whole school

Testimonials from the Field

The School Action Fund grant was a transformative catalyst for our campus, enabling us to change a multiple year, low-performing rural school through a more engaging P-20 model. Through the grant process, A.B. Duncan moved from a previous F/D rated campus to a high B, where students and teachers demonstrated impressive growth.

Dean of Academic Affairs,
Floydada Collegiate ISD
The SAF grant has allowed our campuses to plan and implement engaging school models such as Blended Learning, College Prep, and STEM while positively impacting our students by creating equitable, high-quality school options throughout the district. Students are not the only ones who benefit from a SAF grant; these school actions also affect the campus and central office staff by increasing capacity in areas such as HQIM, Positive School Culture and Climate, individual school models, and RBIS, to name a few.
