AUSTIN – Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath today advised members of the State Board of Education of his decision to grant eight Generation Twenty-Five charters. Eight Generation Twenty-Five charter school applicants successfully completed a final step of the state’s charter application process allowing them to begin operation in Texas for the 2021-22 school year once any contingencies are met. This new offering will save school systems up to $40M, and reduce total taxpayer cost up to $22M

This optional test does not take the place of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), which Governor Greg Abbott cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
